Coluracetam increases choline levels

Coluracetam is used by some users to enhance the effects of other racetams (nootropics).

Briefly:

  • Coluracetam is a new synthetic nootropic;
  • extremely potent in raising choline levels;
  • improves long-term memory, enhances cognitive function and improves the ability to make accurate decisions;
  • is one of the better studied nootropics;
  • works well on drug-resistant depression;
  • turns up colors and sounds;
  • effects remain even after the drug is discontinued;
  • should be taken with choline supplements (such as Alpha-GPC or CDP-Choline);
  • low daily doses of 5 to 20 mg (safe even up to 200 mg);
  • Fat-soluble, should be taken with meals.

Its name comes from the optical sensation it can cause in some users when applied in larger amounts. There is little information on this compound from the racetam class. Using it is a bit like an experiment that the user will be up against.

Coluracetam (MKC-231) was developed in 2005 in Japan. It was intended to become a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. However, its potential antidepressant properties have caught the attention of researchers.

Potential benefits

  • Antidepressant effect;
  • anti-anxiety effect;
  • improves vision;
  • improves long-term memory;
  • improves short-term (working) memory;
  • improves access to memories;
  • increases absorption of information (learning);
  • facilitates concentration.

If we talk about antidepressant and anti-anxiety effects, the participants of the study conducted by the manufacturer of this potential drug were divided into two groups. One group claimed that it definitely improves mood and has anti-anxiety effects, while the other group claimed that it can increase anxiety and worsen mood. Coluracetam is expected to have a strong antidepressant effect in cases of severe depression. It is also likely that Coluracetam has an effect on serotonin levels in the brain, thus reducing generalized anxiety. Perhaps changing the dosage of the product will be able to better affect those who did not respond positively the first time to this racetam.

One of the most common effects of Coluracetam use is improved vision. Study participants said they could see colors better and shapes were clearer. Something like HD television. That’s where the name of this racetam comes from, by the way.

Interestingly, Coluracetam may be helpful for people with schizophrenia because it can stabilize acetylcholine levels in the hippocampus. And schizophrenia, among other things, inhibits acetylcholine production in this organ. This raises the possibility that administering it to healthy people may prevent neurodegradation and future related diseases.

Some of the nootropics only improve a person’s functioning while they are in use. Coluracetam, on the other hand, provides long-lasting effects. Also after stopping its intake. Some people also claim that their fogginess (brain fog) has completely disappeared, after just a few times of taking the product! This is probably the result of normalized levels of acetylcholine, which is responsible for many things related to our mental functioning. But not only that. It also lowers blood pressure, reduces the strength and frequency of heart contractions. It is one of the most important neurotransmitters in our body.

Dosage and side effects

The effective daily dose of Coluracetam is generally between 5 and 20 mg. However, it can be increased quite safely up to 200 mg without any noticeable side effects. However, it is advisable to use the lowest effective doses. The side effects of using Coluracetam are not well known. It can be assumed that headaches and dizziness, irritability, sleep problems may occur.
